Politics and Rumors
News sources report that, should he win in this election, Presidential hopeful Joe Biden is considering NY Governor Andrew Cuomo as Attorney General within his administration. Governor Cuomo has no interest in moving to Washington DC or in the position of Attorney General, despite his history and close ties with Joe Biden.
Governor Cuomo served as Secretary from January 1997 until 2001 under the Bill Clinton administration and has stated that he has no plans to return to Washington.
"I'm a New Yorker. I said I would serve as governor, and those rumors are only from people who want to get me out of New York. I don't know why, but that's where that's coming from." Governor Cuomo stated.
When asked whether Governor Cuomo was being considered for the position under his administration, the Joe Biden camp did not respond with a comment.
It seems at this point that the possibility of him being appointed or being interested in the position as Attorney General is nothing more than gossip coming from the rumor mill. Governor Cuomo has been in the spotlight this past year with his handling of the pandemic; he is also unliked by some for his coronavirus handling. Some of them who would like nothing more than to see him pack his bags and head off to Washington DC.
Another possibility for the rumors is to place pressure on Cuomo to accept the position and leave New York, which could be good news for his detractors as he is a controversial political figure there. The governor himself alluded to this being the case. However, as with any political rumors, it's difficult to tell where the truth lies.
Cuomo is untrustworthy
Cuomo and De Blasio have together destroyed New York city with their outrageously stupid draconian rules that have chased not only residents away but many businesses, too. The commerical retail market is shot to hell and will take years to come back.
Cuomo to this day has never taken proper ownership of the scandal involving putting sick Covid-19 patients into nursing homes with a captive population who couldn't flee and had nowhere to go.
The state assessment that said there was no proof the thousands of deaths at these nursing homes resulted from Cuomo's actions is wrong; by every cause and effect measure, the explosion of deaths is highly correlated with the rapid influx of Covid possible patients. If Trump had done that, the press and the left wouldn't have stopped talking about it for months.
How is it that Trump is responsible for 200,000 deaths indirectly (according to the Left) but Cuomo isn't similarly guilty of thousands of deaths that were directly due to his mandate? This again underscores the terrible double standard at play in media.
Sure, Cuomo is better than Kamala Harris, who is a train wreck, but that's not saying much. Sadly, he's not the VP choice, she is. I don't have an opinion on how he would perform under a Biden administration since I am against a Biden administration in total. Our country will change drastically if Biden wins and in ways that will cost us in terms of liberty, protection from China, i.e. defense, taxation and possibly a packed Supreme Court.
I pray Biden and no talent Harris never get a chance. That will allow Cuomo to continue doing the job he claims he wants and is content with, even if it means more nursing home deaths and the further destruction of NYC's economy.
Response to "Cuomo is untrustworthy "
This is a strange analysis. First, it castigates Cuomo for a job horribly done in New York, and concludes with the hope that Cuomo continue in that capacity, at the cost of a Biden electoral defeat. But, this is expected from a hyper-partisan hit piece.
All bickering aside, Cuomo has exhibited exemplary leadership if we are to give the President his due also. We can throw mud all we want, but the facts are he has dealt with the pandemic with powerful leadership with a presence that gave assurance and decisiveness, so much so that even non-Left wing reporting outlets like the Wall Street Journal and Forbes praised his job performance.
In any case, Cuomo has indicated he has no interest in going to Washington, which makes this quite possibly a moot case, unless Biden wins and is able to lure the governor to the AG position somehow.
Regarding whether Trump would appoint Cuomo as AG in a second term, I wonder why anyone would waste time speculating. Trump has indicated in words and actions he has no desire to work with any Democrats and has interest in making America Republican only if he could. But this is the nature of our politics today; the divide will only grow under another Trump term as opposed to under Biden who has shown he would be a leader to all, whether they voted for him or not.
A real leader unites, notwithstanding the elements that oppose him. I want someone in leadership who understands not only my needs, but also respects those who oppose my needs for the sake of greater peace and unity.
